Academic Resources

Treeline Elementary students learn through Kagan Cooperative Learning structures that are engaging and exciting learning activities.

We have also implemented Thinking Maps which is a language of eight visual patterns, each based on a fundamental thought process.

Kagan Cooperative Learning & Thinking Maps

Through our Kagan structures of cooperative learning:

  • The learning task promotes teamwork and students experience themselves as being on the same side;
  • Each student is held accountable for their individual contribution;
  • Students participate about equally; and
  • Many students are engaged at once.

This boosts academic achievement, closes the achievement gap, improves student relations, promotes thinking skills, and creates a more kind and caring school community.

With Thinking Maps:

  • Students use visual patterns to work collaboratively for deeper comprehension at all content areas and grade levels
  • Students are empowered with the tools to analyze complex texts and think mathematically for conceptual understanding and problem solving
  • Student use Thinking Maps for the production and distribution of a range of writing types and purposes
