Grading information:
We wanted to inform you of our school's updated grading policy. Beginning this academic year, we have discontinued the use of the sliding scale rubric previously utilized to curve assessment scores.
As always, check Focus for the most up to date grades and reach out to your child’s teacher for clarification.

Facts Parents Need to Know About Progress Monitoring (PM1 & PM2) Tests:
-
They test the whole year's material right away. Every progress test covers everything your child is expected to learn by the end of the school year.
-
Lower early scores are totally normal. Because your child hasn't been taught the full year's curriculum yet during PM1 (fall) and PM2 (winter), they probably won't score at grade level right away. A low score early on does not mean your child is failing or falling behind.
-
They are meant to track growth, not grade performance. PM1 gives us a starting baseline, while PM2 shows how much your child has learned by mid-year.
-
They don't count as official grades or final achievements. These scores are just helpful checkpoints. Teachers use them to see where your child is thriving and where they might need a little extra help before the final end-of-year test.
