Coqui Notes from the Principal
February was filled with love, laughter, and literary adventures! We celebrated Valentine's Day with heartwarming activities that spread joy throughout our school community. From heartfelt cards to sweet treats, our students shared kindness and friendship with one another, embodying the spirit of love.
We ended February with an exciting celebration of literacy during Read Across America Week! Our students embraced the joy of reading with enthusiasm, creativity, and a touch of whimsy. Crazy Sock Day brought smiles and giggles as students showcased their unique style while diving into the pages of their favorite books. Throughout the week, we had guest readers who explored the magic of storytelling, inspiring a love for reading that will last a lifetime. A special thank you to our parents and guests for coming to Treeline and modeling the importance of reading.
Creating an enjoyment for reading in early childhood will stay with a child throughout their life. The more students read, the more exposure they have to vocabulary and background knowledge which will enhance their learning. Parents can support and foster a love for reading by:
1. Modeling Reading at home by designating a time to read together
2. Creating a Reading nook for their child
3. Showing interest by asking questions about the books your child reads. Asking questions also helps with comprehension:
-
What was the story about?
-
Did the pictures (text features) help you understand the story?
-
Who are the main characters?
-
Does the book remind you of any other stories you have read?
-
What was the author’s purpose or point of view? What was the author trying to convey or tell us?
-
Was there a sequence of events? What were they in order; first, then, last?
By asking these questions during and after reading, parents are taking an active role in the learning of their child and placing an emphasis on comprehension.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all families who participated in our recent Student-Led Conferences. It was truly inspiring to see our students take ownership of their learning and confidently showcase their progress and achievements.
During the conferences, students had the opportunity to reflect on their learning, share work samples, discuss goals, and receive feedback. We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, resilience, and dedication to learning. We believe that student-led conferences empower our students to become confident, reflective learners who actively engage in their education.
Thank you once again for your active participation and support. Together, we are nurturing lifelong learners who are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.
